Origanum vulgare

Es una yerva que ogañu la conocemus por vendel-si en frascus seca i con etiquetas ressaltantis con el letreru de O R É G A N O. Es una especii mu gastá ena cozina i que normalmenti se l'añidimus al tomati, pos casan mu bien, enos picaíllus o rinranis. Dioscóridis mienta de tres crassis d'oriéganu: el ὀρίγανος (III 29), el ἀγριορίγανος (ΙΙΙ 31) i el τραγορίγανος (III 32).

This herb is known for it is sold dry in bottles with the name O R E G A N O. It is a spice widely used for cooking and it is usually added to tomato salad due to they complement each other. Dioscorides identified three types of oreganos: ὀρίγανος (III 29),  ἀγριορίγανος (ΙΙΙ 31) and τραγορίγανος (III 32).

En Estremaúra esta yerva bravía s'arrecogi nel campu o se cría en macetas i arreatis pa segá-la i secá-la en manojinus que se cuelgan i alogu desmenuzá-la. Dispués con él s'apreparan bibistrajus palos costipaus, la tensión, la circulación o los doloris quandu el regatu o simplimenti pal guisu delas comías.

In Estremadura, this wild herb is both located in the countryside and planted in pots and gardens so as to pick them up and dry them, this is done by hanging and shredding their leaves. Afterwards, it can be used as a drink for the common cold, tension, circulation, period pains or just for cooking.

L'aventura con esta pranta prencipió en un comerciu chicu dela Garganta, quandu en procura d'esta yerva mos dixu la comercianta que allí no vendían oriéganu porque la genti diva al monti a por él. Un viejinu que estava allí mos dio endilguis pa dil pala su finca ondi lo avía en abondancia pa si queriamus buscá-lu nel monti. El misteriu estava en que tolas vezis que salimus pal monti la nuestra golienda botánica no mos llevó al oriéganu, peru sí a una retahila de prantas nuevas que por aquellas alturas se crían. 

The adventure started in a small shop in La Garganta, when the shopkeeper told us that she did not sell oregano seeing that the people go to the mountain to collect them. An old man who was buying as well told us where his rural property was so that we can find all the oregano we wanted. The heart of the matter was that we did not found oregano in all the time we stayed at La Garganta, but a series of plants growing in those zones.

En unu delos últimus passeus que echemus pal monti, sin buscá-la, entre çarças i helechus i escobas, ajorrandu por una verea de piera de mala huélliga mos vinu un fatu frescu i conocíu. De contau acaché la vista i vidi entre unus helechus i por baxu dun çarça varias matinas de oriéganu entovía cona sus frol. Mos susprendimus porque no era ni muchu menus pondi mos mandó el vieju i era el únicu sitiu ondi lo encontramus, de má que no era por menus que sacal las retrataúras d'aquel pardagueal junta los cercaus de piera dela Garganta.

In one of our walks in the hills, without searching it, we noticed a recognizable fresh smelling among thistles, ferns and brooms. Unwittingly, we went looking for it. What we discovered was a series of bushes still with their flowers behind the thistles and ferns. We were very surprised, since that was not the path the old man told us, so we must to take a picture of that twilight close to the stony enclosure of La Garganta.

Remediu/Remedy: El consumu del oriéganu junta moras de morera i higus passus vienin bien palos costipaus i resfriaus. En infusión sirvi palos doloris que trai el periodu, la circulación o la tensión. Its consumption with blackberries and dried figs for the common cold and flues. The infusion serves as medicine for the period pains, circulation and tension.
